A new chapter begins…
Have you ever finished listening to a song and wondered if there was a larger story behind the lyrics? Or read a chapter of a book and wondered what the soundtrack might be like?
A little while back Michael Hunter had an idea for a story. He wanted to follow the adventures of a mixed race child in a fantasy world where technology has become forbidden. But he didn’t want to just tell a story, he wanted to bring it to life with music inspired by the text. The idea was to create a world that people could join from multiple mediums, and for them to then have the option to stick around and delve deeper. Not a musical, but a multi-disciplinary experience and hopefully in time, a collaboration between artists and audience.
Many months of hard work later the world of “Everen” has officially arrived! Join Hunter on a unique new adventure one chapter and song at a time, with artistic contributions from friends, family, and fellow creatives. Don’t forget to come back every month to see what happens next!
Welcome to Everen!
EVEREN - Chapter 1
Dominic made his way through the marketplace with a practiced ease. To an outsider it might appear a chaotic scene: vendors loudly hawking their wares, children clad in colorful wrappings screaming and giggling as they played in the streets, and of course the ever-present refuse of old tech littering the dark corners and alleyways. But all Dominic felt was a sense of relief and belonging, of being home.
He let out a deep sigh of contentment as he took stock of the moment, and as he breathed back in a gentle breeze wafted the smell of spices and grilled meats under his nose.
“Hey there young man!” beckoned an Arksoné elder, hunched over a nearby spit and slowly rotating a sizzling hunk of meat. “Want to try some fire roasted kaolosh? You look like you might have an adventurous spirit, eh!?”
Dominic smiled and gently shook his head as the old man’s face fell in disappointment. His stomach grumbled in protest but he’d promised himself he’d be careful with his limited funds.
As he made his way through the winding streets of the marketplace he marveled at how little had changed during his absence. The simple wooden houses built near the base of the mountains, the colorful awnings and drapes adorning the various stalls, the hungry but hopeful look in the faces of the children darting past him - it felt like he’d never even left.
Suddenly Dominic stumbled as one of the younger kids careened into his legs and face planted into the hard packed earth. The other kids continued running away laughing, intent on finishing whatever imaginary game they were playing…..
